Ebony and Sterling Silver Brooch

This curious hand-constructed brooch was the catalyst to Ange’s exploration of mixed-media jewellery. Made from hand-carved reclaimed ebony wood with recycled sterling silver, this beautifully-complex brooch explores the relationship between modern urban architecture and the pockets of green space around them. The distinctive asymmetric geometric shape of Ange’s signature style has been combined with the contrasting colour and texture of the ebony, to create something fresh. The oxidation of the inner side of the silver element adds further depth to this stunning brooch.

As a born-and-bred Londoner, Ange grew up surrounded by the wide variety of architectural design that the city has to offer, as well as its range of parks and green spaces. Through her use of her chosen materials and instinctive means of construction, Ange aims to convey the relationship between these modern urban structures and the natural world around them.
